About this opportunity

This Special Notice announces the Global Fishing and Forecast Challenge sponsored by the National Security Innovation Network and National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency. The Challenge seeks innovative solutions from commercial and academic entities to forecast illegal, unreported, and unregulated maritime fishing vessel traffic.

The Challenge will proceed in two phases to identify solutions that can inform U.S. and partner nation responses to illegal fishing. The first phase will select up to ten finalists, and the second will identify the top three winners. Eligible small businesses and non-traditional defense contractors are invited to submit proposals by February 16, 2024 to potentially be selected for prototype or research contracts or other transaction agreements. Satisfying competition requirements, the Special Notice describes the Challenge as an open call for commercial technologies with potential national security applications or technological advancements. Additional details can be found at the listed websites for the National Security Innovation Network and Challenge.gov.
