About this opportunity

The National Park Service's Natchez Trace Parkway is soliciting a firm fixed-price contract for non-invasive archaeological geophysical survey services across approximately 2.7 acres at three separate historical sites in Lee County, Mississippi: Brices Cross Roads National Battlefield (1.16 acres), Tupelo National Battlefield (1.3 acres), and a Confederate Graves site (0.24 acres). The primary objectives include providing baseline documentation of subsurface features, recording burial locations, and updating the NPS Cultural Resource Inventory System (CRIS). Contractors must be qualified archaeological professionals meeting the Secretary of the Interior's Professional Qualification Standards and must provide all labor, materials, tools, equipment, and supervision necessary to design and conduct the survey. Proposals will be evaluated based on cost, technical approach, and relevant experience, with bidders required to submit a registered UEI number and relevant experience references. A mandatory site visit is scheduled for August 12, 2025, at 10:30 AM CT at Brices Cross Roads National Battlefield, with attendance confirmation required by email to tara_clark@nps.gov. Electronic proposals must be submitted by August 19, 2025, to the same email address.

This procurement is designated as a Total Small Business set-aside under NAICS code 541360 (Geophysical Surveying and Mapping Services), with New South Associates, Inc. mentioned as a potential vendor in the solicitation documents. The contract includes a 12-month performance period running from August 18, 2025, to August 18, 2026, with a delivery date of July 1, 2026. Key deliverables include developing a research design, conducting field surveys, analyzing data, and submitting comprehensive documentation to both the Southeast Archeological Center and the Mississippi Department of Archives and History. The work will be performed at the three National Park Service sites located in Lee County, Mississippi, requiring specialized archaeological survey expertise and equipment. While specific budget ranges are not disclosed in the solicitation documents, the contract structure as a firm fixed-price commercial services acquisition suggests the government expects competitive pricing from qualified small businesses in the geophysical surveying field.
