About this opportunity

William Beaumont Army Medical Center at Fort Bliss, TX is conducting a sources-sought market research effort for Cardiogen-82 Generators, a specialized radioactive medical device used in cardiac positron emission tomography (PET) imaging. The Department of the Army Medical Command is seeking to determine the availability of potential business sources for this procurement, with the goal of potentially competing or setting aside the contract for small businesses. Interested parties must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) and submit responses to elizabeth.a.orloski.civ@health.mil by May 23, 2025. Contractors must provide details including their business size under NAICS code 325413, recommended proposal schedules, invoicing terms, and company identification information. The government will use the submitted information to determine the most appropriate acquisition strategy for this procurement.

The pre-solicitation notice indicates no specific set-aside has been determined, and the anticipated contract will be a single firm-fixed price agreement with a one-year performance period. The Cardiogen-82 Generator is a complex medical device that enables weight-based dosing of Rubidium-82, provides radiation safety monitoring, and includes FDA-approved software for analyzing cardiac PET images. The system requires generator replacement every 40 days and includes unique features such as dose calibration, patient weight-based dosing, and safety checks for potential Strontium breakthrough. While no specific contract value is mentioned, the procurement will involve a sophisticated medical imaging technology that enables precise cardiac perfusion analysis. The government will not reimburse companies for preparation or participation in this market research process.

A radioactive generator that when saline runs through the column Rb-82 is pulled off and given to the patient while they are in the scanner. The delivery system is fitted to the generator system and is unique to this system alone. Every 40 days a new generator will be swapped in the infusion system which also provides a radiation safety component. The infusion system checks for Strontium break thru which can be harmful for the patient. The system checks every dose that it administrates to the patients. It also does weight-based dosing. It will deliver a dose based on the patients weight larger patients get a bigger dose to help improve image quality, while smaller patients will get a smaller dose reducing their radiation exposure. Also, an FDA approved software used in cardiac positron emission tomography (PET) for determining regional and global absolute rest and stress myocardial perfusion in cc/min/g, Coronary Flow Reserve, and their combination into the Coronary Flow- Capacity (CFC) Map for facilitating the interpretation of PET perfusion images in patients with suspected or known coronary artery disease. CONTRACTOR RESPONSES SHOULD INCLUDE: The size of your business regarding the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code 325412 per the standard described in Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 19.102 (FAR available at www.acquisition.gov).
