About this opportunity

The General Services Administration (GSA) Public Buildings Service Region 6 intends to award a 120-month lease extension on a sole-source basis for office space in Ackerman, Mississippi, extending Lease LMS60362, which expires October 31, 2026. The action is documented in Project Number 4MS0260 and an attached Justification for Other Than Full and Open Competition memo, and it is classified as a Simplified Lease Acquisition Threshold (SLAT) action supported by GSAR 570.405. The notice lists no set-aside.

The cost rationale is that a lease extension protects the government's occupancy rights when it cannot vacate by the expiration date, avoids holdover tenancy costs, and avoids relocation costs the government cannot reasonably recover through full and open competition for a separate short-term lease. The mission rationale is that the location requires a unique site that alternative locations cannot satisfy. The need arises because the occupying agency faces unexpected delays in preparing its scheduled move into other federally controlled space and in acquiring replacement space, and because documented organizational, financial, or other uncertainties have delayed relocation planning. The government is also consolidating agencies, and the contracting officer is extending leases to establish a common expiration date.
