About this opportunity
The National Institute of Standards and Technology seeks gas detection system maintenance and calibration services at its Gaithersburg campus, with proposals due September 9 and questions due August 27. The procurement is designated for Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) eligible entities, restricting competition to that set-aside pool. Amendment 0001, issued September 1, revised the Performance Work Statement and addressed a solicitation question.
Place of performance is NIST Building 302 at the Gaithersburg, Maryland campus. The contractor shall service and calibrate three Carbon Monoxide sensors, four Natural Gas (Combustible) sensors, three Oxygen depletion sensors, and thirty 134a Refrigerant sensors and transmitters, plus two Gas Control (Monitoring) panels, on a semi-annual basis. The contractor must supply all labor, materials, certified calibration gas bottles, transportation, insurance, and equipment including a 30-foot manlift. Services must be performed during normal business hours (6:00 AM to 6:30 PM, Monday through Friday, excluding federal holidays) and comply with OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and 1926, manufacturer recommendations, and applicable federal and state codes.
The base period runs October 1, 2026 through September 30, 2027, with four optional one-year extensions through September 30, 2031 and a six-month extension option through March 31, 2032. All technicians must have at least two years of experience servicing similar sensors or transmitters and must be OEM manufacturer technicians or demonstrate equivalent experience. Contractor personnel requiring unescorted access to NIST must obtain PIV badges; background checks may take up to 120 days. The NAICS code is 811210, Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance; PSC code is J036, Maint/Repair/Rebuild Of Equipment—Special Industry Machinery.
