About this opportunity
The Savannah District Corps of Engineers is conducting market research for maintenance dredging services on the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway (AIWW) in specific reaches of South Carolina and Georgia. The project focuses on dredging two primary areas: Daufuskie Reach (stations 22+400 to 30+400 and 43+000 to 44+000) and Isle of Hope Reach (stations 23+414 to 36+400). Potential contractors must demonstrate capabilities in hydraulic cutterhead dredging, material pumping up to 40,000 linear feet, and working in sensitive marsh environments. The Request for Information (RFI) seeks detailed insights into contractor capabilities, experience, and approach to managing dredge material containment areas. Interested firms must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) and submit responses by April 24, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. eastern, with inquiries directed to Contract Specialist Amy L. Collins or Contracting Officer Glenda A. Canty.
The procurement is not subject to any specific set-aside designations and falls under NAICS code 237990 with a size standard of $37 million. The estimated project magnitude ranges between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000, with a specific budget estimate of $4.1 million. The project involves removing up to 130,000 cubic yards of maintenance material from each reach, with sediment to be pumped to designated placement sites up to seven miles away. The anticipated contract will be awarded in the second quarter of Fiscal Year 2026, with a projected project duration of four to five months from the Notice to Proceed. The dredging work aims to maintain the waterway at a 12-foot depth with channel widths ranging from 90 to 150 feet, ensuring navigational efficiency for maritime traffic in the region.
