About this opportunity
Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), Program Office PMX-201 at Patuxent River, Maryland, intends to award a sole-source 5-year IDIQ contract to Northrop Grumman Systems Corporation - Defense Systems (NGSC-DS) at Rocket Center, West Virginia, for follow-on production of the FMU-139D/B Fuze System and associated components; responses to this pre-solicitation notice close September 10, 2026.
NGSC-DS is identified as the sole designer, developer, and manufacturer of the qualified FMU-139D/B Fuze system and holds the Technical Data Package required to meet Government requirements. NAVAIR states that award to any other vendor would result in substantial duplication of cost not expected to be recovered through competition, supporting the sole-source rationale under FAR 6.103-1(c)(2)(i).
The production scope includes FMU-139D(D-1)/B Fuze Assembly Inert; FMU-139D(D-2)/B Inert Load Crew Training Fuze System; FMU-139D(D-5)/B Inert Cut Away Fuze; FZU-48A/B Bomb Initiator; Power Cable; Closure Ring; Dunnage; Cable Covers; and associated data. NAVAIR notes that a complete Technical Data Package is planned finalized and approved by first quarter 2030.
This notice is published for informational purposes only and is not a request for competitive proposals. Interested parties may identify capability and interest by responding prior to the closing date. Parties interested in subcontracting opportunities are directed to contact NGSC-DS directly. No anticipated award value is disclosed in the notice.
