About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force awarded contract FA852626CB001 to The Boeing Company on December 19, 2025, for the Flight Deck Replacement program, a sole-source, eight-year engagement valued at approximately $265 million to modernize the C-17 aircraft flight deck through replacement of four obsolete Line Replaceable Units (LRUs): the Multifunction Display, Standby Engine Display, Core Integrated Processor, and Video Integrated Processor. The contract consists of a five-year Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase followed by a 12-month kitproof and Interim Contractor Support period, with one additional 12-month option available, for a total performance period extending through fiscal year 2033. The modernization effort will implement open architecture capabilities to enable future modular plug-and-play functionality, advance C-17 flight deck components to current industry standards, and address long-standing obsolescence issues, along with updates to associated simulators and laboratories. Boeing was determined to be the sole responsible source capable of performing this work due to its unique knowledge of the C-17 system architecture, integration capabilities, and proprietary data rights, with prior market research confirming no other vendor possessed the complete technical qualifications necessary.
