About this opportunity
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is seeking qualified contractors for the rental of heavy equipment at Lower Suwannee National Wildlife Refuge in Levy and Dixie Counties, Florida, through a Sources Sought Notice. This is a pre-solicitation announcement designed to identify potential contractors and their socioeconomic classifications under NAICS code 532412 (Construction, Mining, and Forestry Machinery and Equipment Rental and Leasing). Responses to this Sources Sought Notice will inform the government's acquisition strategy and may lead to a formal solicitation. The contractor must be the equipment owner and be located a reasonable distance from the refuge. Key qualifications require that contractors demonstrate ownership of specified machinery and familiarity with the geographic area. The deadline for responses is April 1, 2026, and interested contractors should note that responses to this Sources Sought Notice will not constitute adequate responses to any subsequent formal solicitation.
The contract period runs from April 6, 2026, through December 19, 2026, with no set-aside designation applied. The primary equipment requirements include two Caterpillar 320 class excavators (40,000-50,000 lbs operating weight) each equipped with dedicated power packs and Fecon Bull Hog mulching heads, plus two high-flow skid steers or compact track loaders to be delivered upon government request. The contractor must also provide a diesel fuel trailer with 920-950 gallon capacity and a 40 GPM diesel pump. All equipment must be delivered with less than 500 operating hours, fully operational, and in excellent condition. The contractor is responsible for all delivery, preventive maintenance, repairs, parts replacement, and ensuring at least three-calendar-day repair response time for any inoperable equipment. No specific budget or award value is disclosed in this Sources Sought Notice, as the government is in the information-gathering phase prior to formal solicitation development.
