About this opportunity
The Department of the Navy Naval Supply Systems Command is seeking to procure 9 units of a specific firing mechanism (NSN 7H-1020-008897041) with Technical Data Package Version 005. The procurement will be delivered FOB Origin, and the government currently does not own the data or rights to the part, making additional sourcing challenging. The government intends to negotiate with a single source under FAR 6.302-1 authority, which allows for non-competitive procurement under specific circumstances. Interested parties have 15 days from the January 8, 2025 notice date to identify their capability to satisfy the requirement, with a response deadline of February 9, 2025. The procurement will not utilize FAR Part 12 policies for commercial item acquisition, and the government will solely determine whether to conduct a competitive procurement based on received information.
The pre-solicitation notice does not indicate a specific set-aside designation, and no incumbent contractors are mentioned. The procurement is categorized under Product Service Code 1020-P for Guns Over 125Mm Through 150Mm, suggesting a specialized military hardware component. While no specific award value is provided, the contract involves 9 equipment units with a focus on a repair or modification effort. The government has determined it would be uneconomical to purchase data rights or attempt to reverse engineer the part, indicating potential technical complexity or proprietary design. Potential vendors can obtain relevant specifications and standards through the DoD Single Stock Point, with multiple contact methods available including online resources, phone support, and mail requests to the DLA Document Services in Philadelphia, PA.
