About this opportunity

NIST issued a combined sources sought notice and notice of intent to award a sole source contract for a fiber-coupled spectrograph with a response deadline of August 25, 2026. NIST will pursue competitive acquisition if viable alternative sources are identified; Konica Minolta Sensing Americas, Inc. is the current identified potential sole source.

The spectrograph must meet specific technical requirements including a 1024x128 pixel back-illuminated CCD-array detector cooled to at least 10 degrees Celsius, spectral range from 200 nm to 830 nm, 250 micrometer slit, integration times of 4 milliseconds or less, and built-in shutter with order-sorting optical filters. Additional requirements include a 24-bit A/D converter, factory calibration with stored calibration files, fiber optic identification sensors, Ethernet interface, and 100 percent compatibility with existing Instrument Systems spectrometers (CAS140B, CAS140CT, CAS140CTS, CAS140D). The instrument must be compatible with existing LabVIEW programs and Windows 11 operating systems, include interchangeable parts compatible with NIST-owned equipment, and provide two custom vacuum-compatible fiber bundles with KF40 flanges and keyed ferrules.

Respondents must submit company information, product specifications with country of manufacture, commercial pricing, standard terms and conditions, regulatory compliance confirmation, and existing federal contract vehicle details by August 25, 2026. The procurement falls under NAICS 334516 (Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing) and PSC 6640 (Laboratory Equipment and Supplies).
