About this opportunity
The Department of Energy, through its National Nuclear Security Administration, seeks a strategic supply partner to provide ferrous and non-ferrous metals along with high-performance engineering plastics on an as-needed basis. The Nevada National Security Site and North Las Vegas Facility require a comprehensive supplier capable of delivering a diverse portfolio of materials including alloy steel, aluminum, brass, bronze, copper, stainless steel, titanium, tungsten, tantalum, and specialized plastics. Key requirements include reliable sourcing, consistent quality assurance, and secondary processing services where available, with all shipments requiring Certificates of Conformance and material certifications at delivery. While the Pre-Solicitation Notice does not explicitly detail evaluation criteria, respondents must demonstrate their ability to meet these quality and delivery standards by providing their company name, Unique Entity Identifier, and System for Award Management registration confirmation. Interested parties must submit responses by March 30, 2026, with the notice having been posted on March 19, 2026.
This procurement carries no set-aside designation and will be awarded to Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS), the current NNSS operator, who will select a subcontractor for materials supply. The contract structure provides for a two-year base ordering period followed by three additional one-year renewal options, potentially extending the relationship up to five years. The Pre-Solicitation Notice does not specify award values or anticipated purchase quantities, indicating this is a requirements contract where demand will be determined through individual task orders. Respondents must confirm their business size classification under NAICS code 332999 (All Other Miscellaneous Fabricated Metal Product Manufacturing) as part of their response. The notice establishes that procurement will be conducted across multiple Department of Energy facilities, including installations in Nevada, California, Maryland, and New Mexico.
