About this opportunity
NASA's Shared Services Center seeks quotations for a femtosecond industrial laser, with quotes due June 1, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. Central Time. The procurement is set aside for total small business.
Place of performance is Hampton, Virginia. The laser head must produce pulses of 300 femtoseconds or less (typical 230 fs) at 1030 nm with tunable pulse duration ranging from 300 fs to 2.5 picoseconds, deliver up to 4 microjoules at 515 nanometers as maximum burst energy with software-controlled attenuation between 0 and 100%, and operate at approximately 1.2 watts average output at 1 megahertz with software-adjustable frequency capability between megahertz-range high and tens-of-hertz low pulse rates. The system comprises a laser head (615.3 x 362 x 139 mm) and power supply unit (496 x 483 x 184 mm) connected by a 5-meter umbilical cable; larger laser head dimensions up to approximately 25% variance and longer umbilical lengths are acceptable. The system must operate on standard 100–240 V AC single-phase power (47–63 Hz) with passive air cooling in ISO 9 room air environments at 15–30°C with 10–80% relative humidity. Delivery is FOB Destination within four months of contract award, with shipping costs included in the quoted price. NASA will accept a similarly functioning demo unit upon delivery while awaiting the final purchased system. All contractual and technical questions are due May 28, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. Central Time via email only. Quotations must remain valid for 30 days and include two points of contact with names, phone numbers, and email addresses. Offerors must be registered in SAM.gov. Evaluation uses lowest price technically acceptable (LPTA) to the responsible offeror. The NAICS code is 334516, Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing. Contract type is firm fixed-price.
