Purpose
The purpose of this inquiry is to determine your interest and qualifications as a possible Offeror to supply an automatic actuated fire suppression system for diesel fueled vehicles that is Factory Mutual (FM) 5970 approved. It is anticipated the Procurement Statement of Work will request subcontractor(s) to design and install the automatic actuated fire suppression system. Expected installation duration is 80 hours from start to Mechanical Completion during regular work week hours.
The fire suppression system will be utilized on a specially designed vehicle, called the Shielded Canister Transporter (SCT). The SCT moves sealed canisters, one at a time, from one facility to storage buildings adjacent to the facility. This transporter, more than 18 feet tall, 25 feet long, and weighing 235,000 pounds, is a two-wheel drive vehicle powered by redundant Caterpillar 3208 normally aspirated diesel engines. Each engine compartment is not totally enclosed (open on the bottom), total volume is 144 cubic feet. It has a center module with a shielding cask, floor plug cavity, and associated canister lifting equipment. The transporter draws canisters up into the shielded cask for the short trip to the storage building.
The fire suppression system is expected to have the following attributes:
-Factory Mutual (FM) 5970 approval
