About this opportunity

The United States Human Resource Command's Casualty and Mortuary Affairs Operations Division is seeking information regarding casket and urn procurement for military mortuary operations in Europe and Korea through a Request for Information (RFI) issued by the MICC Fort Knox office. The RFI seeks responses from potential suppliers of standard and oversize metal caskets, hardwood caskets, cremation caskets, various urns, and shipping containers for military mortuary services. The government is specifically targeting manufacturers in the Burial Casket Manufacturing sector (NAICS 339995) and encourages participation from small businesses across various socioeconomic categories, including Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned, Women-Owned Small Business, and Historically Underutilized Business Zone enterprises. Responses must be submitted by February 21, 2025, at 9:00 AM EST, with detailed information including company contact details, DUNS number, CAGE code, and small business status. This RFI is purely for information gathering and does not constitute a commitment to contract or issue a formal solicitation.

The pre-solicitation notice does not indicate a specific set-aside designation, though it actively encourages small business participation across multiple certification types. No incumbent contractors are mentioned in the documentation, and specific award values or precise quantity requirements are not disclosed in the current RFI. The draft Statement of Work outlines specific technical requirements for caskets and urns, including detailed specifications for 18-gauge metal caskets, hardwood caskets, cremation caskets, and various urns in standard and oversized configurations. Delivery locations are specified as Miesau Army Depot in Germany and USFK Casualty & Mortuary Affairs Center in South Korea, suggesting a geographically targeted procurement effort. The government emphasizes that this notice is for planning and information purposes only, and respondents will not be compensated for their submission, with no guarantee of future contract opportunities.
