About this opportunity
The 30th Contracting Squadron at Vandenberg Space Force Base has issued a Request for Information (RFI) to conduct market research for the procurement of an Ergo Performance System, specifically seeking 450 units of tactical load-bearing vest/carrier systems that meet MIL-DTL-32439 Type 3, Class 3 standards. The carriers must be constructed from 500-denier nylon with features including moisture-wicking spacer mesh, integrated laminate backing, multiple shoulder-harness attachment points, adjustable straps, padded lumbar support, and active ventilation capabilities. The system must accommodate plate inserts up to 30 pounds, weigh approximately 20 ounces, feature MOLLE webbing compatibility, and be available in MultiCam color with one-size-fits-all adjustable sizing. The procurement falls under NAICS code 315990 (Apparel Accessories and Other Apparel Manufacturing) with a size standard of 600 employees, and interested vendors must respond by 12:00 P.M. PST on August 4, 2025. Responses should be emailed to Contract Specialist Noah Blake and Contracting Officer Christopher Hummel, including company name, CAGE code, small business status, and relevant qualifications.
This opportunity is not designated as a set-aside procurement, though the government is specifically seeking to assess small business participation potential and requires at least two qualified small businesses to demonstrate their capabilities for consideration of a future small business set-aside. The current system being replaced is the Eagle Industries Ergo Performance System, indicating Eagle Industries may be the incumbent contractor. No specific contract value or budget range has been disclosed in the RFI documentation. The procurement involves 450 tactical carrier units with precise specifications including weight requirements of approximately 20 ounces per unit and load capacity of up to 30 pounds for plate inserts. Vendors are encouraged to provide information about joint venturing or partnering arrangements and must demonstrate compliance with FAR 52.219-14 Limitations on Subcontracting clause. The government emphasizes this is purely an information-gathering exercise with no commitment to future procurement or compensation for vendor response preparation.
