About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Air Combat Command is conducting market research through a Sources Sought notice for the installation of electric smart meters at Shaw Air Force Base. The procurement seeks a contractor to furnish all equipment, materials, labor, and coordination necessary for the complete installation of 40 Schneider PowerLogic PM8000 smart meters with Current Transformers at multiple buildings on the installation. Key requirements include installing the meters in building mechanical rooms adjacent to main power distribution panels, providing flexible split Current Transformers, supplying all associated power supply, conduit, wire, and mounting hardware, and removing existing non-functional meters and equipment. The contractor must demonstrate expertise in electrical installation work, as indicated by the NAICS classification of Electrical Contractors and Other Wiring Installation Contractors. The Sources Sought notice was posted on March 19, 2026, with responses due by March 24, 2026, and interested parties are advised to monitor SAM.gov for subsequent solicitation documents and additional requirement details.
This procurement is designated as a Total Small Business set-aside, restricting eligibility to qualified small business concerns. The notice does not provide a specific contract award value or budget range, as this is a pre-solicitation market research announcement rather than a formal Request for Proposal. No reimbursement will be provided for costs associated with responding to this Sources Sought notice. The project involves the installation of 40 meters across multiple buildings, with all new meters and associated Current Transformers to be located inside each building's mechanical room. While the exact timeline for installation completion is not specified in the notice, contractors should be prepared to discuss their capacity and schedule for completing the smart meter retrofit work once the formal solicitation is issued. Potential contractors are encouraged to review the approved Current Transformer cut sheets and specifications that will be provided in the subsequent solicitation documents.
