Attached through Admendment 0002 are the answers to RFI questions posed during the site visit and through correspondence.

RFI - What type of cable are between the meter and the circuit panel are in place right now?
Respond - at the moment is #2 cable, verify electrical codes when new panel 250 amp is going to be replaced.


RFI - Condenser unit will be placed?
Respond - Units will be located at roof, roof have treatment for leaks. Contractor will made sure after Condenser unit is install and ankle at floor preventing a wind can move the condensers and contractor is responsible to meet same kind of roof treatment.


RFI - A/C evaporator units related to drain of each unit, where will be discharge this water?
Respond - Contractor will determine where should drain the units with concerning prevention of slime at concrete. According at site we saw at the back of the building an jardinière that can be used for A/C drain. Or . If no drain outside pipe are near , contractor will require to use his/her acknowledges for prevent water accumulation where the drain will drop and prevent slime at floor where employees can be a serious safety problem).


RFI - Do new circuit panel will be mount over old panel? Respond - No old electrical panel will be remove and replaced by the new require one.


RFI - Do are any suggestion what brand of electrical panel will need ? Respond - No , contractor will determine which one will used and meet our requirements at line #6 of SOW.


RFI - Line 7 on SOW indicates Install one shut-off (safety switch) box (NEMA 3R) for entire Mini-Split A/C system.. Do will be only one for the entire units? Respond - No , according with the electrical codes, each units should have a independent Shut off ( Safety Switch) in depend are require an independent breaker for each unit at the electrical panel.


RFI - At the SOW line 1 on task , don't indicates what will be done with the electrical conduits? Can clarify? Can be re-used?
Respond - A. conduit will be cap/seal for future uses.
B. conduit will be cap/seal for future uses.
C. No, According with manufactures , the power from A/C Evaporators comes from condensers units.


RFI - Can we suggest units amount from 5 to 3 units since the space? No, each contractor are indicates to propose 5 units like is indicates on SOW.


RFI - When said at the specification line 12- Connect units to the outdoor condenser and compressor with hidden conduit. Use electrical/refrigerant grade conduits to prevent vandalism .. Respond - Contractor will determine what material will use for maintain hidden.


RFI - Do units are floor/roof pack or are mini-split units? Units request are Mini-splits.


RFI - For electrical connections at units , can we use super service conduit? No portable cord or super service 3 or 4 wires are permit. Verify specification #8.
RFI - When moment of remove and replace new electrical panel work will be done, Do are a day that can be done w/o personal, since will take a complete day for made this work. Respond - Verify on Notes, item #1 And notes #2.
RFI- Do we will requires permits? For example AEE? Respond - Verify on Notes Item # 5 & 6.

USDA Forest Service Southern Region El Portalito Hub A/C Project


In order to yield more competitive proposals and a better understanding of the scope, we are extending the solicitation date. Please see new details regarding the site visit.


The USDA Forest Service Southern Region intends to solicit proposals for the award of a construction contract to provide an air conditioning system at the El Portalito Hub and Visitor Center. The contractor shall furnish labor, equipment and materials and installation of Mini-Split Air Conditioner System units in El Portalito Hub, located in the U.S. Forest Service, Southern Region, El Yunque National Forest in Rio Grande, PR in the Palmer Area. This procurement is 100% set-aside for small businesses. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code associated with this requirement is 238220 Plumbing and Heating, and Air Conditioning Contractors. The magnitude of this solicitation is between $25,000 and $100,000. Basis for award is lowest price technically acceptable(LPTA).All vendors must be registered in sam.gov to be considered for award.
