About this opportunity

Naval Air Systems Command awarded a cost-reimbursable order valued at $6,046,638 to General Atomics under existing Basic Ordering Agreement N0001921G0014 on June 4, 2026, for engineering change proposal ECP-I-EMALS-0066 addressing Block Switch Controller Complex Programmable Logic Device hardware obsolescence and firmware upgrade on Ford Class Carriers.

The order funds non-recurring engineering—including analysis, design, prototyping, and integration testing—of an upgraded printed circuit board assembly to replace an existing CPLD and development of the design's technical data package and supporting lifecycle logistics documentation. Work resolves hardware reliability and processing capacity issues within the currently installed EMALS Block Switch Controller printed circuit board assembly aboard USS Gerald R. Ford and USS John F. Kennedy. General Atomics, San Diego, California, is the sole contractor under the BOA, which the Contracting Officer justified under 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) based on General Atomics being the only responsible source given the Government's lack of adequate technical data packages to support competitive procurement.
