Update #3 · Latest ·

The Engineer Research Development Center (ERDC) Additive Construction (AC) program at ERDC-Champaign (CERL) utilizes cutting-edge, automated 3D printing capabilities to construct a multitude of designs to include facilities, gap crossings, and obstacles using locally available cement and aggregate materials. A primary task includes testing of 3D printing materials, which includes aggregate testing (sieve analysis, particle characterization), mortar and concrete mixing and fresh material assessment. To ensure proper testing ERDC-CERL is upgrading the materials testing facility, which includes new modular enclosed spaces for aggregate, mortar, and concrete testing. Testing of aggregates and mixing procedures often results in the production of airborne dust particles, which require strategies to remove the dust to prevent inhalation by researchers in proximity to these activities.

To mitigate dust from materials testing and mixing, ERDC-CERL requires dust mitigation equipment to remove the airborne dust from workspaces.
