About this opportunity

Naval Supply Systems Command intends to procure dual visor strap assemblies for T-6 aircraft helmets, with a pre-solicitation response deadline of September 3, 2026. No set-aside applies.

The procurement addresses a safety requirement specific to the T-6 training community: pilots currently swap between dark/sun visors and clear visors during flight to manage lighting conditions, a practice that introduces significant risk during critical flight phases, low-level navigation, and high-workload environments. The dual-visor system eliminates this need, reducing cockpit foreign object debris (FOD) and minimizing head-down time while maintaining continuous eye protection against glare, bird strikes, and canopy fragmentation.

The requirement specifies two visor strap assemblies: the 1000EA Visor Strap Assembly (Inner), Part Number B7182, and the 1000EA Visor Strap Assembly (Outer), Part Number B7078. Delivery is required during operating hours of 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM at a location specified in the full requirements document. The scope encompasses integration into the T-6 training environment with focus on operational safety and situational awareness.

NAICS classification is 315990 (Apparel Accessories and Other Apparel Manufacturing); PSC is 8475 (Specialized Flight Clothing And Accessories).

Notice text

Due to the increased desire of the T-6 community to avoid swapping out visors during flight,
along with the elevated safety risk, the dual-visor was approved for use in the T-6 aircraft.
Replacing visors (switching between dark/sun visors and clear visors for night or low-light
transitions) while actively piloting an aircraft introduces a significant and unnecessary safety
risk—especially during critical phases of flight, low-level navigation, or high-workload
environments
