The Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Research Laboratory has issued a Special Notice for the procurement of a dual-energy, high-energy X-ray linear accelerator. This Special Notice, posted on March 12, 2026, represents a total small business set-aside opportunity classified under NAICS code 334517 (Irradiation Apparatus Manufacturing) and PSC code 6525 (Imaging Equipment and Supplies: Medical, Dental, Veterinary). The government intends to purchase one Varex Linatron M6A unit from VJ Technologies, indicating a single-source or pre-identified vendor procurement. The procurement includes not only the primary equipment but also comprehensive ancillary components and support services necessary for full operational deployment.

The procurement encompasses a complete system package including the dual-energy X-ray linear accelerator unit, internal collimator, low leakage x-ray head, spare parts, alignment laser, compact RF unit, modulator/power distribution cabinet, power line conditioner, system cables and hoses, reference guides, and control console, along with factory buyoff, commissioning assistance, and system verification services. Contractors interested in this opportunity must submit their proposals by the March 17, 2026 deadline, providing a five-day response window from the posting date. Eligibility is restricted to small businesses, as this is designated as a total small business set-aside, limiting participation to entities meeting Small Business Administration size standards for their respective NAICS classification.
