About this opportunity
The U.S. Coast Guard's Surface Forces Logistics Center (SFLC) in Norfolk, Virginia has issued a Special Notice for an unplanned drydock contract involving the USCG Cutter ADELIE (WPB-87333). This sole-source acquisition notice, posted on December 29, 2025, announces the Coast Guard's intent to award a firm fixed-price contract to Platypus Marine, Inc. for the removal, replacement, and renewal of the cutter's starboard shaft and propeller. The acquisition is being conducted under 10 U.S.C. 3205, which permits other than full and open competition. Although this is not a competitive solicitation, the Coast Guard indicates it will consider proposals from any responsible source and reserves the right to conduct a competitive procurement at its discretion. The applicable NAICS code is 336611 (Ship Building and Repairing) with a size standard of 1,300 employees.
The primary objective of this acquisition is to restore operational capability to the ADELIE following an unexpected loss of the starboard shaft and propeller on November 30, 2025. Platypus Marine, Inc., located in Port Angeles, Washington approximately two nautical miles from the cutter's homeport, was selected as the sole source to minimize transit risks and prevent additional vessel damage during transport to alternative facilities. The contract is expected to have a 14-day performance period and will be funded through Unplanned Maintenance Funds for Fiscal Year 2026. Interested parties must submit proposals to Ms. Taylor Cregan at Taylor.S.Cregan@uscg.mil and LaToya Sorrell at LaToya.N.Sorrell@uscg.mil no later than 3:00 PM EST on January 1, 2026. This Special Notice is set aside for small businesses, and no formal solicitation package is currently available.
