About this opportunity
The Department of the Army Materiel Command Mission and Installation Contracting Command Fort Hood seeks 15 modular, NDAA-compliant FPV drone build kits for training, reconnaissance, and operational use, with proposals due June 8, 2026. This is a total small business set-aside.
Place of performance is Junction City, Kansas. The procurement is under NAICS 336411 (Aircraft Manufacturing) and PSC 1550 (Unmanned Aircraft).
The kits must be supplied as unassembled component sets with assembly instructions rather than fully assembled units. Per-kit component specifications include 6 goggles, 6 controllers with matching transceiver modules, 15 FPV receiver modules, 6 goggle omnidirectional antennas, 6 goggle directional patch antennas, 15 video transmitter antennas, 15 6S LiPo batteries (6000–6500 mAh acceptable), 60 clockwise propellers, and 60 counterclockwise propellers. Airframes must be carbon fiber and compatible with 3112 motors rated at 900 KV. Propellers must be 3-blade glass-fiber reinforced. Video transmission may use NDAA-compliant digital formats (HDZero or Walksnail Avatar) or analog, operating at 5.8 GHz with matched goggle and transmitter protocols. Control link components must share a common protocol such as Crossfire. All components controlling the drone must be NDAA Section 889-compliant; motors and batteries do not require NDAA compliance. Flight performance requirements include 30-minute flight time, 4–10K range if possible, and maximum altitude of 2,000 feet AGL. An assembly manual is recommended. FAR 52.219-14 (Limitations on Subcontracting) is incorporated by reference but does not apply to this small business set-aside valued at or below the Simplified Acquisition Threshold. The anticipated delivery date is July 26, 2026, which is not a hard deadline. Amendment 0002, effective May 26, extended the deadline to June 8 to allow Government publication of answers to industry questions.
