About this opportunity

The US Geological Survey issued a sole-source notice of intent on September 2, 2026, to award a purchase order to Qiagen LLC in Germantown, Maryland, for a digital PCR (dPCR) instrument with a response deadline of September 8, 2026. USGS states that Qiagen is the only known source capable of providing this proprietary equipment compatible with existing systems. The instrument delivers multiplexed genetic quantification with capability to detect up to five fluorescent dyes, integrate partitioning, thermocycling, and imaging in a single platform, and measure up to five targets simultaneously for detection of rare mutations, copy number variations, and gene expression analysis. The system operates with a rapid two-hour workflow, processes 96-well and 24-well plate formats supporting up to 480 samples per eight-hour shift, and supports automation for sample preparation. The instrument requires Windows 10 or 11 64-bit compatibility with x64 processor, four physical cores at 2.5 GHz minimum, 16 GB RAM or more, 500 GB disk space, and 1920x1080 graphics interface. Award will proceed under FAR Part 12 commercial item procedures. Although this is not a competitive solicitation and no formal RFQ will be issued, responsible parties may submit quotations for agency consideration.
