About this opportunity

The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), under the Department of the Air Force Materiel Command, issued this sole source justification notice on December 22, 2025, for consulting services related to a Level 2 design charrette for the DoD Supercomputing Resource Center (DSRC) High Performance Computing (HPC) center at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB). ERG, a mechanical engineering consulting and design firm, was selected as the sole source contractor to provide specialized consulting services, including the development of mechanical and electrical systems requirements documentation, on-site attendance at design meetings by qualified engineers, and support for infrastructure planning for a new data facility. The justification for sole source selection emphasizes ERG's specialized expertise in high-performance computing center requirements, their prior work relationship with AFRL, and the urgency imposed by Congressional deadlines and the need for vendor continuity, with market research determining that no alternative contractors could meet the specific technical requirements within the required timeline. The contract was awarded on January 16, 2026, with the specific award amount redacted from the publicly available documentation. While the contract value remains undisclosed, the engagement requires mechanical and electrical engineers to travel to WPAFB for periodic on-site participation in the design charrette activities over the project duration.
