About this opportunity
The Department of the Treasury's Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) is seeking information from potential suppliers of distinctive currency paper, non-distinctive banknote paper, and test paper samples to support the manufacture of U.S. currency. The paper must meet specific requirements, including a blend of cotton and linen fibers and may contain features such as windowed threads, embedded threads, security stripes, and watermarks. This is a Sources Sought notice, not a solicitation, and the purpose is to obtain information on the availability and capability of qualified sources to fulfill this potential requirement. Responses to this notice will assist the government in determining the appropriate acquisition method and identifying interested and capable vendors.
This procurement is not set aside for any particular business type. The BEP tentatively anticipates a 5-year period of performance for any resulting contract. The agency is interested in developing an alternate source for these specialized paper products and may issue an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract with a 10-year period of performance. The BEP seeks information on respondents' manufacturing facilities, production capacity, and technical capabilities to produce between 13,500,000 to 22,500,000 pounds of cotton-linen paper within a 12-month period.
