About this opportunity

The Strategic Systems Programs within the Department of the Navy published a Special Notice on August 5, 2020 to document the original presolicitation notice for the disposal of Trident I (C4) and Trident II (D5) first, second, and third stage rocket motors.

The Notice intends to award a sole source contract to the only contractor capable of disposing and testing the rocket motors due to extensive expertise required. No other contractor could establish the necessary expertise, storage facilities, and trained personnel within the required timeframe to support the annual disposal and evaluation operations starting in fiscal year 2020. The sources sought notice and queries to other military services did not identify any alternative sources that could perform the work at Hill Air Force Base, the only location capable of demilitarizing the large rocket motors. The attached justification and approval document provides further rationale for the sole source award given proprietary data and specialized facilities, equipment, and trained personnel required.
