About this opportunity
The USDA Agricultural Research Service is seeking a contractor to replace autoclaves at the Diagnostic Virology Laboratory located at the National Centers for Animal Health in Ames, Iowa. The procurement involves replacing six pass-through autoclaves, specifically one Tuttnauer freestanding autoclave in room 3627 and two Tuttnauer pass-through autoclaves in rooms 3512 and 3536, with new units that must meet detailed technical specifications including specific chamber dimensions, door configurations, electrical requirements, and microprocessor controls with ethernet connectivity. Contractors must remove existing equipment, install new autoclaves to exact specifications, provide comprehensive training, and have technicians with at least five years of experience while adhering to strict laboratory access protocols. The evaluation will be conducted using the Lowest Price Technically Acceptable (LPTA) methodology, meaning the award will go to the lowest-priced quote that meets all technical requirements. The pre-site visits are scheduled for July 1-2, 2025, requiring pre-registration by June 27, 2025, with questions due by July 3, 2025, at 1:00 PM Central Time, and quotes must be submitted electronically by July 7, 2025, at 4:00 PM Central Time.

While specific contract values are not disclosed, the government anticipates awarding a firm fixed-price contract for the procurement of freestanding and pass-through autoclave/sterilizer units. The contractor will have a 365-day performance period to complete the project, which includes equipment removal, installation, training, and submission of detailed documentation including installation manuals, engineering data, and redline drawings. All work will be performed at the USDA facility in Ames, Iowa, with delivery required F.O.B. destination. The replacement units must come with a 12-month warranty and meet specific operational requirements for the diagnostic virology laboratory environment.
