About this opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs Technology Acquisition Center is seeking sophisticated software solutions to reduce inappropriate polypharmacy among veterans. The procurement targets technology that can identify multi-drug interactions, optimize medication regimens, and assist in managing veteran medications while mitigating risks such as adverse drug events, medication non-adherence, and increased healthcare costs. The software must be supported by clinical evidence and demonstrate efficient implementation with real-world return on investment based on actual platform deployments. Key requirements include the ability to automatically generate medication lists, provide risk scores for veterans and individual medications, facilitate shared clinical decision-making, and integrate with VA communication tools and electronic health record systems. The solution must also meet VA Information Technology requirements including FedRAMP certification and Authority to Operate (ATO) status. The RFI response deadline was September 15, 2025, at 3:00 PM Eastern Time, and the final acquisition strategy is planned to be full and open with a Request for Proposal to be issued via Contracting Opportunities. The primary points of contact are Contracting Officer John Vardouniotis and Contract Specialist Elena Juliano at the VA Technology Acquisition Center.

The procurement includes no specific set-aside designation, though the RFI documents reference potential consideration for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSBs) contingent on market research findings. No incumbent contractors or current service providers are identified in the available documentation, and no specific award value or budget range has been disclosed in the pre-solicitation materials. All prospective offerors must be fully registered in the System for Award Management (SAM.gov) with complete socioeconomic data, representations, and certifications; having only a Unique Entity Identifier may not be sufficient. The solicitation is classified under NAICS code 513210 (Software Publishers) and Product Service Code DA01 (IT and Telecom - Business Application/Application Development Support Services Labor), indicating the anticipated procurement vehicle and industry classification. While the RFI response period has concluded, the formal Request for Proposal process remains forthcoming through the standard federal contracting channels.
