About this opportunity
The Department of Transportation's Volpe National Transportation Systems Center has awarded a sole-source task order to VersaTech Inc. for comprehensive cybersecurity assessment services on a logical follow-on basis under the NITAAC CIO-SP3 Small Business GWAC (Contract No. 75N98119D00077), with an award date of September 21, 2026.
The justification cites RFO 16.507-6(b)(3) and DOT Class Deviation 2026-14. VersaTech previously held task order 6913G625F50027N awarded August 15, 2025. The government argues that transitioning to a new contractor would create duplicative costs of $125,100 to $145,100 for onboarding, technical orientation, and environment setup, and would introduce a 60-to-90-day operational gap that jeopardizes compliance with FISMA and NIST Risk Management Framework requirements. The task order encompasses cybersecurity assessments and Cyber Maturity Assessment revisions on up to 10 enterprise systems, evaluating security control effectiveness, identifying vulnerabilities, and verifying compliance with applicable federal laws, regulations, and policies.
Period of performance is 12 months base with a 12-month option. The government commits to competitive re-procurement of future cybersecurity requirements once NIST SP 800-53 Rev 5 migration reaches steady-state operations, and will not exercise the option period if a competitive replacement or DOT OCIO shared services capability becomes operational before the base period concludes. Contracting Officer Christopher Dooley is responsible for finalizing price reasonableness determination.
