About this opportunity
This notice announces the Naval Air Systems Command's intent to enter into sole source negotiations and award a contract to General Atomics for planning efforts to produce, manufacture, assemble, test, and manage the Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System and Advanced Arresting Gear System for the CVN 81 aircraft carrier. This includes planning facilities, material, manpower, and work efforts to reduce program risk and identify long lead material. The agency will consider capability statements, proposals, or quotations received by June 8, 2021, however the acquisition will be pursued on a sole source basis with General Atomics as the only source with the requisite expertise.
There is no set-aside designated for this opportunity. General Atomics is identified as the incumbent and sole source for these services as the designer, developer and manufacturer of the systems. Subcontracting opportunities should be coordinated through General Atomics. The value and period of performance for the planning contract are not specified, however the notice states the agency's intent is to later modify the contract to add full production of the systems for CVN 81.
