About this opportunity

Paragraph 1:

The Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL), under the Department of Energy, is conducting market research to identify potential sources capable of supplying a crystallography beamline pixel-array detector for synchrotron beamline 4.2.2 at the Advanced Light Source (ALS). LBNL is seeking suppliers with a proven record of successfully installing such detectors at synchrotron crystallography beamlines. The key requirements include a large active area, small pixel size, fast frame rate, zero readout time, and high count rate. Respondents are required to provide a list of previous installations, product literature, and technical specifications. Responses to the Request for Information (RFI) are due by October 4, 2024.

Paragraph 2:

This procurement is not set aside for any specific business category. The RFI is for informational and planning purposes only and does not constitute a solicitation or commitment by LBNL to issue a formal contract. No funds are available to pay for preparation of responses, and no reimbursement will be made for any costs associated with this RFI. The NAICS code for this opportunity is 334516 (Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing), and the PSC code is 9999-P (Miscellaneous Items). The potential award value or budget range is not specified in the pre-solicitation notice.

Notice text

Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory is conducting market research to identify potential sources that can supply a crystallography beamline pixel-array detector. Synchrotron beamline 4.2.2 at the Advanced Light Source (ALS) is dedicated to macromolecular crystallography for the acquisition of diffraction data from crystals of biological materials. This beamline is currently equipped with a CMOS-based x-ray detector. Better technology to substantially improve the quality of diffraction data can now be obtained using pixel-array x-ray detectors. Details of the requirements and instructions for responding are in the attched RFI document.
