About this opportunity

The United States Marine Corps (USMC), specifically the Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM), has issued a Special Notice regarding the draft military specification MIL-DTL-18186F for Crowns, Service and Dress Cap. This notice is not a solicitation but an invitation for industry stakeholders to review and provide comments on a proposed specification for removable service and dress cap crowns. The draft specification covers two types of cap crowns: Type I in white microdenier polyester twill and Type III in polyester/wool gabardine in green, with sizes ranging from 6 to 7-3/4 inches. The document falls under Product Service Code 8405 and NAICS Code 315210 for Cut and Sew Apparel Contractors. The notice was posted on January 30, 2025, with a review period ending on February 23, 2025.

The primary objective of this Special Notice is to engage industry partners in refining the draft specification for Marine Corps dress and service cap crowns. MARCORSYSCOM aims to encourage a broad vendor base and accommodate various design solutions and manufacturing processes. Contractors interested in providing input must submit comments using the provided Consolidated Comments Form (CCF) to USMC_STDZ@usmc.mil, with the document number in the subject line. Comments not submitted on the official CCF may not be considered. There are no specific set-asides or eligibility restrictions mentioned, suggesting open participation for qualified apparel contractors. After the review period concludes, the final specification will be published on ASSIST Online. The draft specification provides comprehensive details on materials, construction methods, stitching, testing procedures, and quality standards for the cap crowns, which are designed to fit Marine Corps dress and service cap frames.
