About this opportunity
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Goddard Space Center has issued a Special Notice for a sole-source contract with Crothall Facilities Management to provide operations and maintenance support services at the Katherine Johnson Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) Facility. The contract, valued at $730,298.00, will cover a six-month base period with a two-month option period. NASA is utilizing Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-1, which allows for a sole-source procurement when only one responsible source can satisfy agency requirements. The decision stems from the GSFC Leasing Office's last-minute rejection of including operations and maintenance services in the facility's lease agreement, necessitating a quick procurement solution. The agency published a notice on Sam.gov from February 21-24, 2025, and received no alternative vendor interest.
The primary objective of this Special Notice is to ensure continuous, uninterrupted facility operations and mission-critical support at the Katherine Johnson IV&V Facility. Crothall Facilities Management, as the incumbent contractor, will provide comprehensive facility maintenance activities including equipment monitoring, handyman services, custodial work, and grounds keeping. The contract is structured with a base period cost of $559,158.00 and an option period cost of $171,140.00. There are no specific eligibility criteria mentioned beyond Crothall being selected as the sole source provider. NASA intends to use this bridge contract as an opportunity to thoroughly explore future contractual options while maintaining operational continuity. The contract falls under the NAICS category of Facilities Support Services (561210) and the PSC category of Housekeeping- Facilities Operations Support (S216). The procurement approach demonstrates NASA's strategic approach to managing facility maintenance during a transitional period.
