About this opportunity

The Department of the Navy Naval Supply Systems Command is seeking to procure an electronic cover component (NSN 1H-5840-014379608-A5, TDP VER 012) classified under the Radar Equipment, Except Airborne product service code. This pre-solicitation notice indicates that the government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under FAR 6.302-1 authority, though all responsible sources may submit proposals, quotations, or capability statements to demonstrate their interest and capability. The government has determined that it is uneconomical to purchase data rights or reverse engineer the part, indicating this is a proprietary item with limited sourcing options. Interested parties are directed to obtain relevant military and federal specifications, standards, and qualified products lists from the DoD Single Stock Point (DODSSP) through ASSIST-Online or by contacting the DODSSP ASSIST Help Desk. All firms must include their CAGE code on solicitation requests, and the pre-solicitation notice was posted on March 4, 2026, with an apparent response deadline of April 20, 2026.

The requirement is designated as a Total Small Business set-aside, limiting eligibility to qualified small business concerns. The procurement calls for a total quantity of 36 units with delivery split between two DLA distribution locations: DLA Distribution New Cumberland in Pennsylvania and DLA San Joaquin Distribution in Tracy, California. No specific budget range or award value is disclosed in this pre-solicitation notice, as this is an initial notification of intent rather than a formal solicitation with pricing information. The pre-solicitation process allows potential contractors a window to demonstrate capability and interest before the formal solicitation document is issued. Contractors should prepare their responses and ensure compliance with small business requirements and government specification standards to position themselves competitively for this sole-source procurement action.
