About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Air Education and Training Command intends to conduct market research for procurement and delivery of communications infrastructure materials for the Valley Hi Project at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, with an RFI response deadline of July 23, 2026 at 12:00 PM CST. This procurement is set aside for Total Small Business and is market research only; no award will be made based on vendor responses.
The 502d Communications Squadron requires materials to support government infrastructure relocation for a City of San Antonio drainage project. The scope is limited to procurement and delivery of materials with no installation, testing, splicing, or site preparation services. Materials include copper and fiber optic cables (2,000 feet of Superior Essex 24-gauge copper cable; 5,500 feet of Corning singlemode fiber; 4,144 feet of Corning 72-fiber singlemode cable), connector housings, splice cassettes, cable protection products, and consumables such as grommet kits, dome closures, splice trays, stainless steel cases, electrical tape, innerduct, and miscellaneous cable ties and connectors. All items must meet "brand name or equal" specifications with salient characteristics as detailed in the Statement of Need.
Brand-name justification documents identify three manufacturers—Corning, Superior Essex, and PLP Products—citing technician training on current systems and infrastructure compatibility requirements. The Air Force committed to continued market research for alternative vendors through demonstrations and catalog reviews.
Respondents must indicate small-business status, applicable socio-economic designations, prior military supply experience, direct manufacturing capability or sources, and may propose teaming arrangements. All responses are voluntary and non-binding. Contact SrA Autumn Mauran at autumn.mauran@us.af.mil for questions.
