About this opportunity

The Department of the Army Corps of Engineers, specifically the Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC-CERL), is procuring one Controllable Vacuum Pump for a Microfluidic Device (CoVPM) that must be compatible with an existing Nikon IX-81 Fluorescent Microscope. This specialized laboratory instrument is required for a research project titled "Volatile Compound Emission Signatures as Sentinels of Permafrost Thaw in Arctic Environments," which involves nanoscale research applications. The solicitation is a combined synopsis/solicitation prepared in accordance with FAR subpart 12.6 for commercial products or commercial services, representing the only solicitation document that will be issued. Award decisions will be made using the lowest priced technically acceptable (LPTA) evaluation criteria among responsive offers. Proposals were due by September 16, 2025, with responses required to be submitted via email to specified government addresses with "Controllable Vacuum Pump" in the subject line.

This procurement is designated as a 100% set-aside for small businesses under NAICS code 334516 (Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing). No incumbent contractors are identified in the available documentation, though market research conducted in July 2025 identified three potential vendors capable of meeting the specialized requirements. The solicitation does not specify award values or budget ranges for this single unit procurement. The equipment will be delivered to and used at the performance location in Vicksburg, Michigan. Vendors must maintain active registration in the System for Award Management (SAM) with no exclusions and complete all required FAR and DFARS registrations to be eligible for contract award.
