About this opportunity
The Department of State intends to procure construction services for the renovation of a bathroom facility at the U.S. Embassy in Bratislava, Slovakia to ensure compliance with Architectural Barriers Act (ABA) accessibility standards. The scope of work encompasses site preparation, excavation and foundations, structural modifications, mechanical, electrical and plumbing work, and all necessary finishes to create seamless access and operation. Prospective contractors must demonstrate business registration clearly showing authorization to perform work in Slovakia and provide evidence of registration and physical presence in the country within the last five years. The Request for Quote documents will be published on SAM.gov, and the government anticipates issuing a Firm Fixed-Price purchase order during the second quarter of calendar year 2026. While specific evaluation criteria have not been detailed in this pre-solicitation notice, contractors should be prepared to demonstrate relevant experience, technical capability, and compliance with local Slovak requirements.
This procurement carries no set-aside designation and represents an unrestricted competition open to all eligible firms. The project budget is anticipated to range between $25,000 and $100,000, reflecting a moderate-scale renovation effort with comprehensive scope coverage. No incumbent contractor has been identified in this pre-solicitation notice, indicating this may represent a new requirement or transition opportunity. The complete architectural and engineering documentation, including drawings, bill of materials, and technical specifications, has already been prepared by an A&E firm, which should streamline the bidding process and reduce contractor design responsibilities. Interested firms are advised to monitor SAM.gov closely for the release of RFQ documents and to ensure their qualifications and in-country presence documentation are prepared well in advance of the anticipated second quarter 2026 solicitation release.
