About this opportunity

The Federal Contract Opportunity is for the provision of in-depth training services for the staff of the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), specifically for the Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA) division. The training will focus on techniques and topics related to FIA relational databases, including coding languages for data queries, data visualization programs, and code repository/posting. The training courses are to be completed before October 1, 2024, and will be held within 30 miles of the Knoxville SRS-FIA office, with an option for some students to attend remotely.

Products and Services to be provided:

  1. Instructor-led software training courses on various topics including Introduction to R, R for data science, Python, Oracle/PLSQL, GitHub, and Power BI.
  2. Provision of a training facility equipped with hardware, software, reliable internet, and other technical items needed for the training.
  3. Option for remote attendance for a subset of students.
  4. Delivery of course plans, attendance rosters, and course certificates or evaluations.
  5. Provision of qualified instructors and course coordinators with a minimum of three years' work experience as instructor-led software trainers.

The USDA, Forest Inventory & Analysis, Southern Research Station (SRS) needs a Computer Software Trainer at Knoxville, Tennessee. In-depth training tailored to our staff needs, i.e., focused on techniques and topics pertaining to Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA) relational databases, bringing attendees from novice to intermediate/advanced levels of understanding. Specific courses include coding languages for data queries; data visualization programs; and code repository/posting.  Six course topics have been identified (see background and contractor requirements for details). Staff from multiple functional groups (e.g., analysis, resource use, methods) and research stations will be enrolled.
