About this opportunity
The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), Aerospace Systems Directorate, is seeking a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software suite for annual subscription to support propulsion research teams. The solicitation targets software capable of handling multiple flow regimes, analyzing aerodynamic and combustion processes, and supporting complex physics modeling for high-speed flight applications. Project requirements include tools for external and internal flow computations, moving mesh capabilities, and a flexible, extensible software framework. The pre-solicitation notice is designed to determine the availability of qualified companies technically capable of meeting the government's requirements, with responses serving as research and informational purposes only. The opportunity was posted on March 18, 2025, with a response deadline of March 21, 2025, and is strictly for market research without any commitment to issue a solicitation or award a contract.
The pre-solicitation notice indicates no specific set-aside designation for this procurement, suggesting it will be open to all qualified vendors in the Software Publishers (NAICS 513210) category. The contract will be classified under the IT and Telecom - High Performance Compute product service code (7B20), targeting perpetual license software for computational analysis. While no specific award value or budget range is disclosed, the annual subscription model suggests a recurring revenue opportunity for the selected software provider. The procurement is specifically for the Air Force Research Laboratory's High Speed Systems Propulsion Technology Branch, with the software intended to support both in-house and contractor research teams. The comprehensive requirements indicate a sophisticated technical solution is needed, potentially limiting the number of competitive vendors capable of meeting the sophisticated computational fluid dynamics specifications.
