About this opportunity
The Air Force Space Command has posted a Special Notice regarding the Commercial Space Domain Awareness (SDA), Sensors as a Service opportunity. This notice updates industry stakeholders on the acquisition strategy for a sensors-as-a-service contract following the May 2025 Request for Information (RFI). The opportunity is classified under NAICS 541715 (Research and Development in the Physical, Engineering, and Life Sciences) and PSC 5840 (Radar Equipment, Except Airborne). The Government has indicated that it is continuing to refine its acquisition approach and solicitation strategy. This is a defense contracting opportunity issued by the Department of the Air Force Space Command with no set-aside restrictions applied.
The Government published this Special Notice to inform industry of continued progress toward a formal solicitation planned for Fiscal Year 2027. The Air Force Space Command is actively developing well-defined requirements and considering hosting an industry day event and issuing supplemental RFIs to enhance competitiveness and clarity in the acquisition. The anticipated solicitation will seek proposals for a sensors-as-a-service contract structure that allows for multiple vendor participation, indicating a non-exclusive contract approach. At this stage, there are no specific deadlines or submission requirements for contractors; rather, the notice serves as an announcement that additional information will be released as the acquisition strategy matures. Interested contractors should monitor official channels for announcements regarding the industry day event, subsequent RFIs, and the formal solicitation expected in FY27.

The Government team plans to issue a solicitation in FY27 for proposals for a sensors-as-a-service contract with the potential for multiple vendor participation. Additional information will be posted as it becomes available.
