About this opportunity
The National Institute of Standards and Technology is conducting market research to identify sources capable of supplying two automated current transformers (National Measurement Institute of Australia model MCT-1/200 Ampere), with responses due by August 17, 2026. This is a combined sources-sought notice and notice of intent; NIST has not yet determined its final acquisition strategy and reserves the right to conduct a competitive acquisition if alternative sources demonstrate capability and interest.
NIST requires automated current transformers with ranges from 0.125 to 200 amperes to support its calibration service for power and energy meters, currently limited by manual tap adjustments. Specified transformers must deliver 1 V output at full-scale input current, include remote control via USB interface for automated measurements, connecting and interface cables, software drivers, and a calibration report. Technical performance requirements include maximum ratio error of 5 micro-volts per volt at 50 Hz, maximum quadrature error of 10 micro-radians at 50 Hz, and frequency range capability from 15 Hz to 10 kHz. Delivery must include a one-year warranty and FOB Destination terms.
Place of performance is Gaithersburg, Maryland (NIST headquarters). Respondents should submit company information, product specifications, commercial pricing, standard terms and conditions, and supply chain compliance details. Vendors must confirm whether products meet the definition of commercial products or COTS items and provide standard commercial pricing with estimated price ranges. Responses do not obligate award and will not automatically satisfy subsequent solicitation requirements if NIST publishes a formal solicitation on GSA eBuy or SAM.gov. PSC 6640 (electrical measuring and test instruments); NAICS 334516 (analytical laboratory instrument manufacturing).
