About this opportunity
The Defense Logistics Agency Aviation (DLA Aviation) is seeking to procure 21 surveying theodolites with specific part number 2218390-001, classified under NAICS code 334519 for measuring and controlling device manufacturing. The primary objectives of this pre-solicitation notice include conducting market research to determine potential sources capable of meeting agency requirements and improving small business access to acquisition information. The contracting office, located at Hill Air Force Base in Utah, is exploring procurement options with a response deadline of May 2, 2025. Interested parties are encouraged to contact Johnny Wakefield at johnny.wakefield.2@us.af.mil for additional information. The government is utilizing authority under 10 U.S.C. 2304(C)(1), indicating the supplies are likely available from limited sources and no alternative supplies will satisfy agency requirements.
The procurement is not set aside for small businesses and foreign participation is not permitted at the prime contractor level. BAE SYSTEMS INFORMATION has been identified as a potential reference contractor for this opportunity. The estimated delivery schedule spans 14 months after receipt of order, with the solicitation number SPRHA4-25-R-0717. The government has determined it would be uneconomical to purchase data rights or reverse engineer the part, suggesting a specialized procurement approach. While the exact contract value is not specified, the limited quantity of 21 theodolites and the complex sourcing requirements indicate a targeted, potentially high-value procurement. The archive date for this opportunity is set for May 2, 2026, providing an extended window for potential contractors to prepare and respond to the solicitation.
