About this opportunity

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), under the Department of Justice, has published a Special Notice regarding a sole source procurement for maintenance and support services for a BAE Mediation System installation at the DEA's Colombia facility. This notice was posted on April 14, 2026, and announces the government's intent to award a purchase order to BAE Systems Applied Intelligence GCS Inc. under simplified acquisition procedures. The procurement is being conducted as a follow-on to previous work, with a performance period from June 1, 2026, through May 31, 2027. The government anticipates awarding a firm fixed price purchase order and has classified this requirement under NAICS code 541519 (Other Computer Related Services). In accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) requirements, the DEA is accepting capability statements from other vendors who believe they can meet the stated requirements.

The DEA seeks maintenance and support services for the proprietary BAE Databridge Mediation System, which is integral to communications infrastructure at the Colombia location. The justification for sole source procurement is based on the specialized and proprietary nature of the system, with BAE established as the sole source capable of providing required services due to its exclusive expertise and as the original developer. Market research conducted through multiple channels, including industry conferences and a sources sought notice posted to SAM.gov in May 2024, confirmed BAE's unique position. Interested vendors must submit capability statements electronically to Denise.N.Scott@dea.gov by April 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Standard Time. The government retains sole discretion to determine whether to open the requirement to competition based on responses received, and price reasonableness will be evaluated using historical pricing data in accordance with FAR guidelines.
