About this opportunity

The Defense Logistics Agency Aviation is conducting market research to procure one Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) six-axis traveling column machining center, specifically a Soraluce FLP 4000 Universal Floor Type 6-Axis Milling Center equipped with the Soraluce Dynamics Active Stabilizer Plus (DAS+) or an equivalent 6-axis universal floor type milling center with an active dampening system. This sources sought notice is being issued to identify qualified vendors with the resources and capability to provide a turnkey solution including the machine, technical data, CAM software, post processor, tooling, accessories, delivery, installation, testing, and comprehensive operator, maintenance, electrical, and mechanical training. The machining center will be delivered and installed at Fleet Readiness Center East (FRC East) in North Carolina and must fit within a 37 x 29 x 14 foot space while meeting specific performance, accuracy, and safety requirements for processing aircraft engine components made from various metals. As this is a sources sought notice for information purposes only and not an actual solicitation, there are no formal evaluation criteria provided; instead, responses will be used to determine the most appropriate procurement method and whether to conduct a competitive or single-source procurement. Interested parties were required to submit responses by July 29, 2024, with the final due date for the actual solicitation set for January 7, 2026, and all communications should be directed to AVNIPEMarketResearch@dla.mil with the tracking number 25-30-1000 in the subject line.

This procurement carries no set-aside designation and is not restricted to any specific business category. No incumbent contractors or current vendors are identified in the notice, as this appears to be an initial procurement of this equipment rather than a replacement or renewal contract. The government has not disclosed a specific award value or budget range in the public notice, though the scope of the requirement—including the machine, comprehensive turnkey installation, and extensive training—suggests a substantial procurement. The acquisition is classified under NAICS code 333517 (Machine Tool Manufacturing) and PSC code 3417 (Milling Machines). The requirement encompasses a single unit of equipment with associated services to be completed upon delivery and installation at the specified North Carolina facility, with no information provided regarding ongoing maintenance or support contracts beyond the initial implementation and training phases.
