About this opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 16 is seeking sources for the replacement and installation of two compressors in a chiller system at the Alexandria VA Health Care System in Pineville, Louisiana. This is a Request for Information (RFI) issued for market research purposes and is not a formal solicitation or commitment to award a contract. Prospective contractors must be licensed HVAC contractors with a minimum of three years of experience servicing Smardt Chillers, and must employ EPA 608-certified technicians experienced in oil-free centrifugal compressor systems and federal or VA medical center environments. Interested firms should submit responses by 4:00 PM CST on February 10, 2026, via email to bennett.smith2@va.gov, including company name, point of contact, email address, business size designation, SAM UEI number, and information on availability under Government-Wide Agency Contracts (GWAC), Federal Supply Schedules (FSS), or Blanket Purchase Agreements (BPA). The RFI responses will be used to determine potential competition levels and market pricing to inform a future formal solicitation.

No set-aside designation has been applied to this procurement. The work involves replacing two failed 500 Series compressors (model TT500-G9-1-ST-E-O-NC) with two new OEM 700 Series compressors (model TTS700HGS2S010X0XXS415) on a 1000-ton Smardt centrifugal oil-free magnetic bearing chiller. The Statement of Work encompasses system isolation, refrigerant recovery, compressor removal and installation, system evacuation and recharge, comprehensive testing, control system firmware updates, and staff training on operation and maintenance. The period of performance is 30 calendar days from Notice to Proceed, with deliverables including comprehensive documentation, detailed test and commissioning reports, user manuals, training records, and a final project report. The anticipated SBA size standard for NAICS code 238220 is $19 million, and the government encourages Small Business Concerns to respond to this market research inquiry.
