About this opportunity
The Department of the Navy Naval Supply Systems Command is seeking to procure a VME Chassis (NSN 7H-5998-016055933) with a quantity of 4 units, to be delivered FOB Origin. This pre-solicitation notice indicates the government intends to negotiate with only one source under FAR 6.302-1 authority, allowing interested parties to identify their capabilities and interest in responding to the requirement. Potential contractors must include their CAGE code on solicitation requests and understand that the government does not currently own the data rights for this part, making reverse engineering uneconomical. The solicitation will consider proposals received within 45 days of publication (or 30 days if awarded under an existing Basic Ordering Agreement), with award contingent upon meeting qualification requirements per FAR clause 52.209-1. Interested parties can obtain relevant technical documents through the DoD Single Stock Point (DODSSP) using ASSIST-Online or by contacting their help desk.
The pre-solicitation notice does not indicate a specific set-aside designation, and no incumbent contractor is mentioned. While no specific award value is provided, the procurement involves four chassis units in the electrical and electronic assemblies category (PSC 5998-P). The opportunity is subject to potential Free Trade Agreements and may involve provisions from DFARS clauses related to Buy American Act and trade agreements. Contractors should note that the government is not applying FAR Part 12 policies for commercial item acquisition, though interested parties can demonstrate commercial item capabilities within 15 days of the notice. The procurement is tied to Military and Federal Specifications, and successful award will depend on meeting specific qualification requirements at the time of contract execution.
