About this opportunity

DARPA is hosting a Proposers Day for the Cattle Run program on November 10, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST at the DARPA Conference Center in Arlington, Virginia, with registration required by November 4, 2026; the event is restricted to U.S. citizens holding CMMC Level 2 certification with proof of current annual CMMC affirmation posted in SPRS, and is conducted at the Controlled Unclassified Information level with no foreign nationals permitted.

The Cattle Run program develops autonomous spacecraft leveraging renewable propulsion—including solar sails—to enable cost-effective cislunar constellations. Phase 1 calls for rapid development and launch of a demonstrator spacecraft below geosynchronous earth orbit within 18 months to validate renewable propulsion's ability to achieve sufficient acceleration, accurate vehicle control, and autonomous Guidance, Navigation, and Control. Phase 2 expands to multiple spacecraft demonstrating persistent cislunar access.

Registration at https://cvent.me/BVOW3V is limited to 160 attendees with a maximum of two representatives per organization. The day includes presentations on program objectives, an industry interactive exchange facilitating teaming discussions, and ten-minute one-on-one sessions with Steven Chambers, STO Program Manager, available from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. by request during registration. Attendance requires government-issued photo identification and submission of DARPA eForm 104 (U.S. Citizenship Verification) along with CMMC UID and organization name. Attendance is free and does not constitute a prerequisite for responding to future solicitations.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVE AND DESCRIPTION:
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Cattle Run program enables cost effective cislunar constellations by developing and demonstrating autonomous spacecraft that leverage renewable propulsion [EF1.1]for persistent cislunar access. Phase 1 develops and rapidly launches a[SK2.1] Demonstrator spacecraf[SK3.1]t in 18 months that shows the ability of renewable propulsion to achieve sufficient acceleration, accurate vehicle control, and autonomous navigation necessary for persistent cislunar access. The Phase 1 objective is to collect on-orbit data to prove the performance of the renewable propulsion approach including vehicle control and navigation data. The Demonstrator spacecraft is launched below GEO and is agnostic of formfactor. Phase 2 creates multiple spacecraft and demonstrates persistent cislunar access.
