About this opportunity

The Department of State is seeking carpentry services for a historic building renovation project, involving specialized woodworking tasks such as removing and reinstalling historic wooden wall paneling, modifying wooden cabinets, and creating custom radiator cladding. The project requires precise craftsmanship with careful attention to maintaining the building's historical aesthetic, including work on first and second-floor areas in Hall 1 and Hall 2. Specific tasks include dismantling four wall panels, repositioning wooden cabinets, creating ventilation slots, and adjusting wooden door frames. The pre-solicitation notice was posted on May 28, 2025, with responses due by July 14, 2025, and represents a small-scale construction project with an estimated cost under $25,000. While specific evaluation criteria are not detailed in the notice, the complexity of the work suggests that contractors will need demonstrated expertise in historic building restoration and precision woodworking.

The contract has no specific set-aside designation, indicating it is open to all qualified contractors. The project scope is relatively compact, involving multiple intricate carpentry tasks across different building floors, with an estimated construction cost range falling below $25,000 according to Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 36-204 guidelines. The work is categorized under Product Service Code (PSC) Z2FA-P, which covers repair and alteration of facilities, suggesting the Department of State is seeking a contractor with specialized skills in historic building preservation and restoration. The project timeline and specific service requirements indicate a need for a contractor who can execute detailed woodworking tasks with minimal disruption to the building's operations.
